About the Company

Our client is a leading aerospace company dedicated to advancing innovation in flight technology, systems integration, and mission‑critical mechanical systems. With a focus on engineering excellence and sustainability, we design and manufacture components that power the next generation of aerospace advancements.

Position Overview

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to lead the design, analysis, and testing of complex mechanical systems and components for aerospace applications. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in mechanical design, thermal/fluid systems, and structural analysis, along with experience working in regulated engineering environments.

This role will involve taking ownership of full product life cycles—from concept to production—and mentoring junior engineers while collaborating with cross‑functional teams in R&D, manufacturing, and quality.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems, components, and assemblies for aerospace applications.
  • Perform detailed engineering calculations, simulations (FEA, CFD), and tolerance analyses.
  • Prepare 3D CAD models and 2D drawings in accordance with aerospace standards (ASME Y14.5).
  • Oversee prototype builds, testing, and validation to ensure performance and reliability.
  • Collaborate with electrical, systems, and manufacturing engineers on integrated designs.
  • Drive design‑for‑manufacturing (DFM) and design‑for‑assembly (DFA) initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with aerospace regulations, material certifications, and quality standards (AS9100, ISO).
  • Lead design reviews, prepare technical documentation, and present findings to stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance across projects.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 7+ years of experience in mechanical design and analysis, preferably within the aerospace or defense industry.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, Creo, or NX).
  • Experience with FEA tools (ANSYS, Nastran, or Abaqus) and thermal/fluid analysis software.
  • Strong understanding of materials (metals, composites) and manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of GD&T and aerospace documentation standards.
  • Excellent problem‑solving and communication skills.

Preferred:

  • Experience with propulsion systems, environmental control systems, or structural mechanisms.
  • Active DoD clearance or eligibility.
  • Experience with additive manufacturing or lightweight structural design.
