Job summary

Cummings Aerospace in Niceville, Florida is seeking an Aerospace Engineer II for a full-time exempt role suitable for early career professionals or individuals who have completed an MS or PhD program. Qualifications

  • BS degree in Aerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is required.
  • MS or PhD in related field is preferred.
  • Experience with feedback control theory and simulations is required.
  • Experience with MATLAB, C++, or Python is desirable.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated self-starter with the ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Develop simulation models and software for aerospace or weapon system applications.
  • Develop autopilot concepts, provide robustness analysis, and integrate them with trajectory-level simulation tools.
  • Perform analysis of GNC concepts for aerospace or weapons system applications.
  • Develop advanced technology concepts for missile and aerospace system applications.
  • Document and present results to technical leads, management and/or customers.
  • Responsible for executing technical assignments with minimal supervision.
  • Support the development and on-time delivery of technical products to our customers.
  • Ensure corporate policies and procedures are adhered to in the performance of duties.
  • Support other duties as assigned.

Overview

The Aerospace Engineer II position is afull-time exempt position early career or having completed a relevant M.S. orPhD program. The successful candidate will support engineering activitiesincluding developing engineering models and integrating externally developedflight vehicle and component subsystem models into computational simulationtools to support aerospace system design and analysis, perform engineeringtrade studies, and performance assessments of aerospace systems. The individualwill work with an experienced engineer to train and mentor them in technicaltasks and report to a Team Lead in our Air-Force Programs business unit.

Skillsand Competencies
  • BS degree inAerospace, Aeronautical, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field isrequired, MS degree or PhD is desired.
  • Classroomexperience with the theory and design of feedback control systems.
  • Coursework relatedto 6-DOF simulations of atmospheric flight vehicles (flight mechanics or flightdynamics).
  • Coursework developingGuidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) algorithms.
  • Experience usingMatlab, C++, or Python is desired.
  • Excellent verbaland written communication skills.
  • Demonstratedself-starter with the ability to complete assignments with minimal supervision.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time
  • Ability to bend, stretch and lift up to 10 pounds occasionally
Location
