Job summary

Horwitz, Inc. is seeking a Lead Mechanical Designer to guide and execute complex mechanical design on assigned projects. You will serve as the primary design contact, coordinating design activities, schedules, and communication across project teams.

The role requires leading and mentoring designers, ensuring coordinated and constructible HVAC and related systems while aligning with Horwitz's values of safety, accountability, professionalism, motivation, and curiosity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or Associate degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering, or a related field.
• Experience leading complex mechanical design projects.
• Experience coordinating multiple designers on projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform mechanical design work on assigned projects, independently or with a team of designers.
• Develop design schedules and coordinate task assignments to support milestones and deliverables.
• Monitor design progress and communicate resource needs to the Team Lead.
• Review drawings, models, and design deliverables for accuracy and constructability.
• Identify technical questions and coordinate clarification with project managers and engineers as needed.
• Mentor designers and provide technical guidance on design practices and standards.
• Coordinate with project managers, engineers, BIM/VDC, fabrication, and field personnel to ensure fit-for-purpose designs.
