Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking an experienced Mechanical (HVAC) Designer to lead complex HVAC projects for commercial, government, academic and industrial facilities. You will design systems, develop construction documents, and mentor junior engineers in a collaborative setting.

The role involves client coordination, field observations, and contributing to cost estimates while applying current codes and best practices. A PE or EIT/LEED preferred; strong AutoCAD/Revit skills essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering.
• Minimum 5+ years of relevant mechanical design experience.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD and Revit software.
• Experience in designing systems for commercial, government, academic, R&D, or industrial facilities.
• EIT and LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design complex mechanical systems adhering to current codes and sound engineering principles.
• Develop detailed construction documents and cost estimates accurately and efficiently.
• Lead quality assurance reviews of staff-produced work.
• Participate and represent the project team in client communications and coordination meetings.
• Conduct field observations to document existing conditions and ensure design accuracy.
• Manage multiple design tasks to meet project milestones within budget.
• Address feedback from clients and regulatory agencies, implementing necessary design adjustments.
• Support construction administration activities such as reviewing shop drawings and RFIs.
• Maintain and expand knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and design software.
