Job summary

Global Laser Enrichment is seeking a Senior Mechanical Designer in Wilmington, NC to lead detailed mechanical design activities for a first-of-a-kind uranium enrichment program. You will translate engineering concepts into complete 3D CAD models, drawings, assemblies, and BOMs, supporting UF6 gas handling systems.

Role requires NRC Q-clearance eligibility and close collaboration with engineers, manufacturing, and test teams.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10 years in mechanical design.
• Proficient with 3D CAD and complex assemblies.
• Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T.
• Experience creating manufacturing drawings and BOMs.
• Experience with tolerance analysis and design release processes.
• Ability to manage configuration control across designs.
• Strong collaboration with engineers, vendors, and manufacturing.
• Ability to obtain/maintain NRC Q-clearance and nuclear site access.
• Excellent communication and problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Develop detailed mechanical designs from concepts to drawings.
• Create and manage complex assemblies using top-down/parametric CAD.
• Produce manufacturing drawings, BOMs, and assembly drawings.
• Apply GD&T and perform tolerance stack-ups.
• Resolve packaging and fabrication issues with engineers.
• Review CAD models/drawings for accuracy and standards.
• Coordinate design activities across multiple designers.
• Support design releases and CAD standards.
