Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a seasoned Mechanical Design professional to join a multi-disciplinary team in Chattanooga, TN. You will develop mechanical equipment locations, piping layouts, and pipe supports from 3D models, coordinating with other disciplines to ensure constructability and operability.

The role requires 8+ years in detailed mechanical design, 3+ years in nuclear power, and strong proficiency with MicroStation or AutoCAD.

Qualifications

• Associate degree in drafting or related technical field.
• 8+ years of detailed physical design experience for mechanical general arrangements, piping and supports.
• 3+ years of experience in the nuclear power industry.
• Proficiency in 3D integrated plant modeling software tools.
• Proficiency in reading spreadsheets derived from the 3D model.
• Experience reviewing mechanical equipment layouts and interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Develop mechanical equipment location, piping layout and pipe support deliverables from the 3D model.
• Participate in 3D model reviews and coordinate detailed design phases across disciplines.
• Provide support to other designers and project team members to ensure timely design.
• Layout mechanical equipment maintaining spatial clearances using 3D modeling software.
• Develop 2D drawings including equipment location, piping isometrics and piping composites.
• Generate complete bills of materials for piping and pipe supports.
