Job summary

Matthews Marking Systems in Corvallis, Oregon, is seeking a Sr. Design & Product Engineer (Mechanical) to own the mechanical architecture, design, and integration of products, tools and testers across the development life cycle.

The ideal candidate holds a ME degree (MBA preferred), 5–8 years of experience, strong SolidWorks skills, and the ability to lead cross‑functional teams, plan projects, and support manufacturing from concept through release, onsite at our Corvallis site.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
• 5–8 years of professional engineering experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Knowledge of solid modeling & CAD software (especially SolidWorks).
• Familiar with data capture for images, storage and archive or images and ability to share them via facility and company databases.
• Occasional travel either locally, nationally, and/or internationally may be required.
• High degree of proficiency in MS Office Suite, Outlook & Internet applications.
• Strong analytical, prioritizing, interpersonal, problem-solving, presentation, budgeting, project management (from conception to completion), & planning skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills (including analysis, interpretation, & reasoning).
• Solid understanding and application of mathematical concepts.
• Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with peers and colleagues across the organization, as well as, internal and external clients.
• Ability to work well autonomously and within a team in a fast-paced and deadline-oriented environment.
• Ability to work with and influence peers and management.
• Self-motivated with critical attention to detail, deadlines and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical and electromechanical systems and products.
• Develops manufacturing processes by designing and modifying equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
• Manages and maintains the build and documentation of designs, prototypes and design of experiments and reports product information through analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
• Provides engineering information by answering questions and requests for customers and other departments as needed.
• Plans, schedules and manages projects and resources of medium complexity and assignments up to six months of duration.
• Reviews work of and assists entry level or intermediate level engineers.
• Additional duties as assigned.
