Job summary

Matthews International is seeking an Entry Design & Product Engineer (Mechanical) to contribute to the mechanical architecture, design, and integration of products, tools, testers and components. You will participate in all phases of the product development life-cycle from concept to end-of-life support.

This role requires working onsite in Corvallis, Oregon, with local candidates preferred. You will collaborate with engineering teams and support configuration and startup activities for

• Analyze project requirements and perform standard technical calculations to support the design and development of mechanical components, equipment, and machinery.
• Evaluate and develop mechanical and electromechanical systems and products of limited complexity by designing and conducting research programs applying specific, relevant engineering principles.
• Evaluate system and product capabilities by assisting with the design of feasibility studies and testing methods, testing properties and developing testing processes.
• Support development of manufacturing processes by participating in the design and modification of equipment for fabricating, building, assembling, and installing components.
• Maintain the build and documentation of designs, prototypes and design of experiments and reports product information through analyzing and summarizing information and trends.
• Provide engineering information by answering questions and requests for customers and other departments as needed.
• Additional duties as assigned.

Job description

The Entry Design & Product Engineer (Mechanical) uses established procedures to perform a variety of engineering work related to mechanical architecture, design and integration of products, tools, testers and components. This position knows fundamental concepts, practices and procedures required to design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems and works on projects/matters of limited complexity. This role has a fundamental understanding of equipment requirements along with business and customer requirements that drive the design of the technical solution and participates in all phases of product development life-cycle, including concept and prototype analysis, design, production launch, sustaining production, and end-of-life support of designed equipment, as well as the support of complementary engineering staff for application configuration and startup support.

*This role will work 5 days onsite in Corvallis. We are looking for local Corvallis/ Portland based candidates.
