Job summary

S&B is seeking a Lead Mechanical Specialist to independently perform mechanical design activities for mid-size projects across general equipment. You will generate scope estimates, equipment lists, and staffing plans while guiding a team to meet schedule and budget.

The role requires proficiency in interpreting ASME BPVC and API standards for fixed or rotating equipment, field data gathering, and cost estimation. Hybrid work arrangements are available with a focus on safe, quality delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
• NCEES FE Examination certification preferred.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
• Proficiency in CAD and MS Office Suite.
• Interpreting ASME BPVC and API standards for fixed/rotating equipment.

Responsibilities

• Prepares basic design sketches and calculations for equipment, components, structures, or systems.
• Gathers data from field trips to inform equipment specifications and inquiries.
• Develops equipment data sheets and priced equipment lists.
• Develops work-hour estimates and staffing plans for mechanical scope.
• Prepares project schedules for mechanical tasks and monitors progress against the plan.
• Directs engineering staff and interfaces with other discipline leads and clients.
