Job summary

S&B in Houston, TX seeks a Lead Mechanical Specialist to independently perform mechanical design for general equipment across project phases. You will generate scope estimates, equipment lists, staffing plans, and schedules, guiding a small team and interfacing with other discipline leads and clients.

The role requires 5–7 years in mechanical design, familiarity with ASME BPVC and API standards, plus CAD software proficiency.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering (ABET-accredited) required.
• 5–7 years of mechanical design experience preferred.
• Experience with ASME BPVC and API standards.
• Professional Engineer license or FE exam preferred.

Responsibilities

• Prepare basic design sketches and calculations for equipment and systems.
• Gathers data and prepares equipment specifications, inquiries, and requisitions.
• Evaluates vendor bids and drawings for compliance with specifications.
• Develop equipment lists and priced lists for estimates, and aid in project scheduling.
• Direct engineering staff and monitor progress against the project plan.
