Job summary

SpaceX seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer for Gateways (Starlink) to holistically own hardware and system design for ground stations. You will design, analyze, test, and help deploy gateway hardware across the Starlink network and collaborate with cross-functional teams to optimize cost, performance, and manufacturability.

The role emphasizes hands-on design, RF/vacuum electronics, composites, and high-reliability hardware development, with opportunities to influence product development

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline is required.
• 5+ years of hardware design, build, and test experience.
• Experience with CAD and/or FEA software packages.

Responsibilities

• Own hardware from conceptual design through high-volume production and deployment.
• Rapidly iterate on designs, analysis, and test to inform system trades and product direction.
• Develop design criteria, collaborate on requirements, and drive system-level optimization.
• Establish an efficient product lifecycle from supply chain to final integration balancing cost, complexity and quality.
• Perform environmental and performance testing on hardware to validate analysis and demonstrate compliance to design criteria.
• Demonstrate extreme ownership of product outcomes at every stage of development and production.
• Work with partner teams to develop novel manufacturing procedures.
