Job summary

Analog Devices, Inc. in Chelmsford, MA is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design of RF/electronic hardware, thermal management, and module packaging for radar and communications systems.

You will work with electrical designers, process engineers, program managers, and assembly, perform CFD analyses with Ansys Fluent, and develop cooling solutions from IC to rack-sized systems. Hybrid work and strong growth opportunities are offered.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in mechanical engineering or related discipline.
• 7+ years of engineering experience.
• Experience leading complex programs or major hardware development.
• Experienced user of SolidWorks and Ansys Mechanical.
• Strong organizational, planning, technical and communications abilities.
• Desire to grow and take on additional responsibilities within the engineering role.
• Ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance, U.S. citizenship or permanent residency.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design of electronic hardware which incorporates RF modules, control electronics, power systems, cabling, and cooling.
• Apply Systems Engineering principles, performing requirements analysis and trade-studies on ADI platform designs for industrial markets.
• Develop and integrate cooling solutions, including CFD analysis with Ansys Fluent; perform steady-state and transient thermal analyses from IC gate level to rack-sized systems.
• Collaborate with engineers and other disciplines across multiple ADI design centers.
• Prepare design review documentation packages for customer and internal design reviews; lead mechanical design review content.
• Design innovative mechanical packaging solutions for SMT and MCM assemblies in collaboration with manufacturing, RF, and digital engineers.
• Perform system-level structural analysis to ensure operation across environmental conditions.
• Prepare and collaborate on fabrication documentation for SMT, PWAs and mechanical assemblies; work with suppliers and our factory on build and test.
