Job summary

Remotebridge is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to contribute to complex CAD assemblies and AI-related projects in a remote contractor role (~15hrs/week). You will analyze assemblies, identify design decisions, and ensure defensible results from CAD models.

You bring 5+ years in multi-part design, mastery of at least one major CAD tool, and strong written English. You will mentor others, review outputs, and document edge cases to support project improvements.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience creating and overseeing multi-part mechanical assemblies from concept, not just from existing drawings.
• Strong proficiency in GD&T, tolerance analysis, and design for manufacturability.
• Excellent written English communication skills for technical documentation and reviews.

Responsibilities

• Analyze and dissect multi-part mechanical assemblies to identify critical design decisions, constraints, and potential failure points that challenge expert reasoning.
• Formulate challenging, non-obvious technical questions that test real-world mechanical design judgment.
• Validate and document defensible, exact answers directly from CAD models with traceability.
• Review AI-generated outputs, pinpoint breakdowns or inaccuracies in mechanical reasoning, and suggest targeted improvements.
• Flag ambiguous, trivial, or unanswerable questions, refining them for clarity and precision.
• Thoroughly document edge cases and sources of disagreement within answers to maintain verifiability.
• Communicate findings and reasoning in clear, professional written and verbal form to support project improvement.
