Job summary

Oklo Inc. is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to own the design of complex reactor-module components from concept through fabrication readiness.

You will ensure performance, manufacturability, and ASME code compliance while coordinating with cross-functional teams. In a fast-paced startup, you will lead designs, reviews, and DFMA analyses, and collaborate with fabrication partners and external consultants to deliver high-integrity hardware for next‑generation power systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or higher degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• 8+ years in mechanical/structural design in relevant sectors.
• Proficient in 3D CAD and large assemblies with detailed drawings.
• Experience with PDM/PLM tools and design control.
• Knowledge of GD&T and ASME Y14.5 compliance.

Responsibilities

• Own design of complex mechanical components and subsystems within the reactor module.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define requirements and ensure safety/code compliance.
• Translate requirements into robust CAD designs considering thermal, structural, and integration constraints.
• Lead design reviews and implement solutions to deficiencies.
• Create detailed 3D models, drawings, and BOMs; manage documentation and change control.
• Coordinate with analysis, fabrication partners, and external consultants for validation.
