Job summary

Oklo Inc. in Santa Clara, CA, is seeking a Core Mechanical Design Engineer to design core assemblies for advanced reactors, advancing concepts through final design and coordinating with the Fuel Fabrication team.

You will generate 3D CAD models, detailed drawings, and BOMs, applying GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018, and collaborate with analysis and manufacturing for manufacturability and inspectability. Occasional travel to support fabrication may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
• Proficiency in 3D CAD software (Siemens NX, CATIA, SolidWorks) with strong part modeling and drawing skills.
• Experience with CAD version control using PDM/PLM tools (Teamcenter, SolidWorks PDM, Windchill).
• Solid understanding of DFM, DFA, and tolerance stack-up analysis.
• Ability to apply GD&T per ASME Y14.5-2018 to engineering drawings.
• Working knowledge of material selection, manufacturing methods, and fabrication techniques.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Develop designs to meet performance and manufacturing requirements.
• Create documentation defining design requirements.
• Conduct design reviews and incorporate feedback.
• Evaluate designs for deficiencies and implement improvements.
• Maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, and BOMs in PLM systems.
• Collaborate with analysis teams for thermal, structural, fatigue, and safety analyses.
• Perform manufacturability reviews, tolerance studies, and DFA/DFM assessments.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of design processes and standards.
