Job summary

KLA in Ann Arbor is seeking a hands-on Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to design precision motion systems and complex mechanical assemblies for next-gen semiconductor equipment. You will own designs from concept through prototype, testing and product release, create 3D CAD models and drawings, and collaborate with systems, controls, software, manufacturing and physics teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechatronics or equivalent
• Experience designing complex mechanical systems and precision equipment
• Strong fundamentals in tolerancing, materials, manufacturing processes and mechanism design
• Proficiency with CAD tools (Creo/NX/SolidWorks)
• Experience with engineering analysis (FEA, vibration, thermal, structural)
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment

Responsibilities

• Design and develop precision mechanical systems, mechanisms, and motion platforms for advanced semiconductor equipment
• Own designs from concept through prototype, testing and product release
• Create 3D CAD models, drawings and documentation
• Perform engineering analysis to optimize performance, reliability and manufacturability
• Troubleshoot and refine prototypes and production hardware
• Collaborate with systems, controls, software, manufacturing and physics teams
• Contribute ideas to improve performance, accuracy, reliability and cost
