Job summary

Butcher Power Products seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead UL 891 switchboard design, mentor peers, and drive end-to-end engineering from concept to fabrication-ready documentation.

You will apply DFMA/ DFA principles, support production with design clarifications, and ensure compliance with UL 891, UL 50 and related standards while collaborating across Manufacturing, Quality and Engineering teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 7+ years of design/manufacturing engineering experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Experience with UL 891 and UL 50 product standards.
• Proficiency with SolidWorks.
• Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, tooling, automation, and production systems.
• Basic knowledge of design for manufacturing (DFM) and design for assembly (DFA).
• Proficient in SolidWorks CAD software and data analysis tools.
• Familiarity with ISO 9001 or similar quality systems.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering leadership for UL 891 switchboard design and mentoring.
• Complete designs from concept to fabrication-ready documentation and review others' designs.
• Lead or participate in design reviews ensuring drawings meet fabrication and assembly requirements.
• Apply UL 891, UL 50, UL 50E standards to ensure safety and compliance.
• Provide design for manufacturability and collaborate with production on issues and deviations.
• Support NCR investigations and drive continuous improvement in design and processes.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation and SOPs.
• Maintain design data in the MRP system and CAD data management tools.
• Coordinate with Manufacturing, Project Management, Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering teams.
