Job summary

Aalo Atomics in Austin, TX seeks a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead reactor vessel and pressure-boundary design under ASME BPVC Section III. This on-site role requires hands-on development, calculations, and documentation for certification and fabrication.

You will collaborate with manufacturing, materials, quality, and licensing teams to advance the N, G, and GC stamp programs, delivering compliant designs and robust analysis for next‑generation nuclear reactors.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of mechanical design experience with pressure vessels or nuclear systems.
• Expert knowledge of ASME BPVC Section III and related subsections.
• Experience performing stress analysis, fatigue evaluation, and load combos.
• Proficient with 3D CAD and FEA or structural-analysis tools.
• Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX or Idaho Falls, ID.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and ASME BPVC Section III compliance for reactor vessels and boundary components.
• Perform Section III code calculations for pressure, thermal, fatigue, buckling, seismic loads.
• Develop Design Reports and Overpressure Protection Reports per Section III.
• Coordinate with manufacturing, materials, quality, and licensing teams.
• Own designs from concept through release and fabrication support.
