Job summary

Aalo Atomics is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead ASME BPVC Section III compliance for reactor vessels and pressure-boundary systems in a fast-paced startup. This role requires expert knowledge of Section III and related subchapters, with hands-on design from concept through fabrication.

You will develop design specifications, calculations, and reports, coordinating with manufacturing, materials, quality, and licensing teams, and playing a central role in ASME certification

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering is required.
• 7+ years of relevant mechanical design experience with pressure vessels or nuclear systems.
• Expert knowledge of ASME BPVC Section III and related subsections NB, NC, ND, NF.
• Ability to work on-site in Austin, TX or Idaho Falls, ID.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and ASME BPVC Section III compliance for reactor vessels and pressure-boundary components.
• Perform Section III code calculations including stress, fatigue, buckling, and load combinations.
• Develop designs, calculations, and documentation; collaborate with manufacturing and licensing teams.
• Support ASME stamp certification efforts and prepare design reports and QA documentation.
• Review and lead design reviews, and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
