Job summary

RTX’s Mechanical Design team in Tucson, AZ, is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead full lifecycle hardware development across multiple programs. You will design and document components, collaborate with analysts and suppliers, and guide teams through design reviews and production support.

You will apply GD&T, DFMA, and reliability analyses to improve forms and manufacturability while mentoring engineers and ensuring program objectives are met in a fast-paced defense environment.

Qualifications

• Requires STEM degree and 8+ years of experience (or 5+ with advanced degree).
• Experience leading mechanical product development lifecycle from requirements to test.
• Experience working across multiple functional areas to resolve technical challenges.
• Experience creating/updating mechanical TDPs and interpreting documentation in production.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and document components, sub-assemblies, and end items per requirements.
• Lead and mentor mechanical engineering teams to meet schedules, budgets, and technical goals.
• Collaborate with analysts, materials, quality, safety, supply chain, and leadership to refine designs.
