Job summary

Nippon Seiki North America in Auburn Hills, MI is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the design and development of automotive instrument clusters and HUDs. You will create 3D models and 2D drawings, apply GD&T, and ensure DFMA and cost constraints are met across the product lifecycle.

The role requires hands-on experience with CATIA/UG, FEA tools, optical design knowledge, and strong collaboration with customers and internal teams to deliver robust IPC/HUD solutions and qualification

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
Master’s degree preferred.
Experience with automotive design and development.
FEM/FEA analysis knowledge required.
GD&T and stack‑up analysis experience required.

Responsibilities

Lead IPC and HUD design with 3D models and GD&T, considering DFMA and cost factors.
Provide PV and production-prep support, quality and assembly input.
Interface with customers to capture design requirements and compile reports.
Develop conceptual design, BOM, and DFMEA/DVP for RFQ and presentations.
Lead in-vehicle checks at customer sites during pre-production.
Mentor engineers on benchmark analysis and market trends.
Assist prototype builds and resolve technical/quality issues.
Support in preparing technical documents for quality gates.
