Job summary

This Mechanical Design Sr. Associate Engineer role is located in Mossville, IL and supports Caterpillar’s Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions division.

The position focuses on design, development, and validation of inverter products, including mechanical components, assemblies, and thermal management solutions. Responsibilities include designing mechanical systems in Creo, validating parts, and working with electrical and manufacturing teams to ensure robust integration into power

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Working knowledge of information capture and documentation processes.
• Familiar with SOPs and analytics to improve operations.
• Strong communication skills and problem-solving ability.
• Knowledge of DFM and manufacturing processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and support mechanical designs for inverter products, meeting performance, durability, and manufacturability targets.
• Create and maintain mechanical models, drawings, and design docs using Creo.
• Support design and validation of mechanical components including thermal management features.
• Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing, and supplier teams for integration.
• Participate in design reviews, testing, and issue resolution including vibration and durability checks.
• Apply design fundamentals to improve quality, reliability, efficiency, and ease of assembly.
