Caterpillar Inc. is seeking a Senior Associate Engineer - Mechanical Design in Mossville, IL.

The role focuses on the mechanical design, development and validation of inverter products within the Integrated Drivetrain Energy Solutions division. You will create and maintain mechanical models and drawings in Creo, ensure manufacturability, and partner with electrical, controls, and manufacturing teams to integrate designs into power electronics systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability (DFM) and manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Ability to document designs and communicate across disciplines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and support mechanical designs for inverter products within IDES.
  • Create/maintain mechanical models and drawings using Creo.
  • Support thermal management features such as heat sinks and cooling solutions.
  • Collaborate with electrical, controls, manufacturing and supplier teams for integration.
  • Participate in design reviews, testing, and issue resolution (vibration, thermal, durability).
  • Apply mechanical design fundamentals to improve quality, reliability and assembly.
