Job summary

ZT Systems in Secaucus, NJ, is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to design and validate mechanical assemblies for high‑performance servers. You will develop innovative components, create 3D‑printed prototypes, and coordinate manufacturing and field installations in a fast‑paced hardware environment.

You will collaborate with cross‑functional teams, perform DFMA and tolerance analysis, and interface with customers and suppliers to define requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 8+ years of professional experience in mechanical/structural design.
• Familiarity with metals, alloys, and plastics.
• Experience designing for high-volume manufacturing (stamping, injection molding, sheet metal, die-cutting).
• Proficiency with Creo; other 3D CAD systems acceptable.
• Skilled in DFM, DFA, and statistical tolerance analysis.
• Experience with structural FEA (Creo Simulate) is a plus.
• Knowledge of computer hardware industry desirable.
• Ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
• Strong collaboration, communication, and adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop innovative mechanical components and assemblies.
• Create 3D-printed prototypes to support iterative design and testing.
• Direct and coordinate manufacturing and field installation or retrofit activities.
• Analyze technical issues and implement timely, cost-effective solutions.
• Generate engineering documents including drawings, manuals, and other technical deliverables.
• Collaborate closely with cross-functional engineering teams.
• Interface directly with customers and suppliers to define mechanical requirements.
• Support time-sensitive development initiatives alongside systems and development engineering teams.
• Contribute to strategic initiatives for process, quality, and cost improvements.
