Job summary

Schaeffler Technologies AG & Co. KG in Troy, MI is seeking a Sr. Mechanical Design Engineer focused on gearing for humanoid robotics. You will design planetary gear actuators, develop 3D models, and prepare production-ready designs using CAD tools.

The ideal candidate has a mechanical engineering degree, 5+ years CAD experience, gear design expertise, and actuator systems knowledge; you will run simulations/FEA, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and document results.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; robotics/automation coursework is a plus.
5+ years of CAD design experience producing 3D models and detailed components.
Strong gear design knowledge and planetary gear actuator experience.
Experience with electric, hydraulic, and pneumatic actuators for humanoid robots.
Ability to run simulations and basic FEA; troubleshoot design challenges.
Excellent teamwork and clear technical documentation skills.
Authorized to work in the United States.

Responsibilities

Design and develop planetary gear actuators for humanoid robotics.
Create detailed CAD models and production-ready designs using Creo/SolidWorks/AutoCAD/CATIA.
Optimize actuator performance and mechanical efficiency.
