HX5, LLC in Brook Park, Ohio seeks a Mechanical Engineer III to support the GEARS contract at NASA Glenn Research Center. You will contribute to the design and fabrication of a ground test rig for a 1,500-lb-class distributed electric propulsion research drone, working with thermal, structural, and systems teams in a lab setting.

The role requires solid skills in SolidWorks/CREO, component sourcing from rapid-turn vendors, and analyses with Ansys.

Qualifications

• Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering degree from ABET-accredited program.
• Bachelor's degree with 5-10 years of relevant experience or Master's with 3-6 years.
• Proof of U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass a U.S. government background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Design and fabricate an integrated ground test rig for a 1,500-lb-class research drone.
• Collaborate with NASA Technical Monitor and multidisciplinary team in a lab environment.
• Develop assembly architecture focusing on electrical placement, wire routing, cooling, and mechanism integration.
• Source hardware and perform analyses to support prototyping and testing.
