Job summary

NASA Glenn Research Center in Sandusky, Ohio seeks a Mechanical Test Engineer to provide engineering leadership for mechanical tasks across a range of test facilities and projects. The role involves planning, design, and execution of tests with emphasis on coordinating multidisciplinary teams and ensuring alignment with facility capabilities.

The engineer will support wind tunnels, propulsion test stands, and cryogenic environments, performing data analysis and producing final technical reports

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical expertise to plan test projects ensuring facility requirements match capabilities and schedules.
  • Lead project planning including detailed plans, schedules, tasks, durations, and resource assignments.
  • Oversee mechanical systems design, test hardware fabrication, installation, data analysis, instrumentation specs, and final reports.
  • Coordinate with electrical test engineering and technicians to meet test and operation requirements.
  • Prepare documentation supporting facility development and procurement of hardware.
  • Provide training support for engineers and technicians.
  • Develop presentations for design and safety reviews and other technical meetings.
  • Provide status reports to management and customers.
