Job summary

Gabletek Robotics and Controls Solutions is seeking a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in automation, tooling, and CATIA for BIW applications in Lake Orion, Michigan.

You will design, validate, and support automation equipment from concept through installation, collaborating with controls, electrical, manufacturing, and project teams to ensure manufacturability and robust performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
• Approximately 10 years of mechanical design experience.
• Advanced proficiency with CATIA and 3DEXPERIENCE CATIA.
• Experience designing BIW tooling and automation equipment.
• Understanding of GD&T, manufacturing processes, and machine design.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
• Automotive manufacturing experience and OEM design standards preferred.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop mechanical systems, tooling, and automation equipment using CATIA
• Create 3D models, detailed manufacturing drawings, and engineering documentation
• Develop innovative design concepts for automated assembly and manufacturing systems
• Perform engineering calculations, tolerance analysis, and design validation
• Support prototype builds, testing, and equipment validation
• Collaborate with controls, electrical, manufacturing, and project engineering teams
• Work with suppliers and vendors to ensure designs are manufacturable and meet project requirements
• Review drawings, BOMs, and specifications for accuracy and quality
• Track engineering changes and maintain project documentation throughout the design lifecycle
• Support equipment installation, launch activities, and engineering changes as required
