Job summary

Astemo America seeks a mechanical/electronic controls engineer to support technology development for inverter/power control units, under the Engineering Manager. Translate customer requirements into robust inverter designs with a global team, including Japanese and US design groups.

The role follows a hybrid work plan (2-3 days on-site). You will contribute to design, validation, and production launches across OEMs, suppliers, and Astemo Japan.

Qualifications

• BSME degree required.
• 5+ years of automotive powertrain design experience.
• Experience with 3-D CAD creation and 2-D drawings.
• Experience with Mechanical CAE (thermal, structural, etc.).
• Understanding of electrified vehicle systems.
• Experience interfacing with customers or suppliers.
• Strong technical problem-solving and interpersonal skills.
• Experience managing projects from concept through execution.

Responsibilities

• Lead and/or support technology development activities for new xEV inverter business in Astemo Americas.
• Plan and manage activities for multiple projects to meet goals within a timeframe.
• Receive, evaluate, and utilize customer requirements for optimum inverter design.
• Facilitate technical communication between OEM customers and design teams, manufacturing sites, and suppliers.
• Participate in design improvements, validation, and production launch activities for xEV inverters.
• Create and oversee technical specifications as needed for product design.
• Provide on-site support to manufacturing sites during sample and mass production.
• Support pricing, quoting, and cost investigation activities.
