Qualifications

• Perform complex mechanical engineering assignments on the NSSS, including system and detailed component design.
• Serve as technical lead for the design of NSSS components and systems (e.g. valves, CRDMs, pressurizer heaters).
• Act as subcontract technical lead / program manager for vendor design of NSSS components, engaging closely with design partners and internal stakeholders to ensure designs meet company and regulatory requirements.
• Prepare, check and review engineering specifications, drawings, calculations, reports and other design documentation.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to staff across all areas of NSSS design.

Senior Mechanical Design Engineer – Nuclear Steam Supply System (NSSS)

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Manager, NSSS Appurtenance Design, you will perform mechanical engineering assignments across the nuclear steam supply system — from system-level work through to detailed component design. You will serve as a technical lead for the design of NSSS components and systems, review and evaluate plant systems to ensure design, performance, inspection and testing requirements are defined, and propose innovative design solutions on complex, multi-disciplinary tasks.

This role carries significant independent judgement and offers the chance to mentor and provide technical direction to less experienced engineers.

What You'll Do

• Perform complex mechanical engineering assignments on the NSSS, including system and detailed component design.

What You'll Bring

• Education: Minimum of a B.S. degree in Engineering (Mechanical preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 10 years of full-time, relevant nuclear experience.
• Strong technical writing, professional communication, computer, presentation and interpersonal skills.
• Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to manage complex projects with multiple work phases.
• A commitment to quality assurance in line with 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21 and ASME NQA-1.
• A registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Mechanical or Nuclear (desired, not required).
• Working knowledge of ASME Codes and Standards and 10 CFR 50.
• Nuclear utility or plant experience.
• NSSS component design, inspection and testing.
