Job description

Drives continuous improvement of product development, design, testing, and documentation control of existing products from inception through production; mentors and coaches new and existing Product Engineers to create a productive, fast-paced team.

Participates in peer design review processes and provides feedback on improvements.

Utilizes SolidWorks for modeling and drawing capabilities.

Manages product improvement for existing products, including ideation, technical design, and engineering specifications.

Develops and manages product quality test plans and testing procedures in collaboration with Horizon Global quality personnel.

Fabricates and tests fit engineering prototypes as needed.

Reviews customer source control drawings, specification control drawings, and other applicable specifications to determine requirements and compliance; creates instruction sheet illustrations and texts, continuously improving documentation.

Works on legacy products to update drawings to match manufacturing specifications.

Qualifications

• 8-10 years of experience in mechanical, industrial, or manufacturing engineering.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
• Knowledge of DFMEAs.
• Proficiency in SolidWorks (2D and 3D) and simulation tools.
• Proficient in tolerance stacks and GD&T.
• Knowledge of DVP&Rs and report writing.
• Experience with manufacturing processes and material properties (steel formed, cast, and forged).
• Knowledge of welding processes.
• Experience with domestic and international manufacturing, product development methodologies, and stage gate processes (APQP).
