Job summary

IREN is seeking a Construction Superintendent Commissioning - Mechanical to lead commissioning of electrical and mechanical systems for high-performance data centers in Sweetwater, TX. You will oversee planning, testing, and handover, coordinating with mechanical teams, vendors, and site operations to ensure safety, quality, and schedule adherence.

The role requires a Mechanical Engineering or Construction Mgmt degree, 7+ years in mechanical construction, plus experience with liquid cooling,

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in mechanical construction management, including 3+ years in data center or mission-critical projects.
• PMP, LEED AP, or similar certifications are a plus.
• Experience with liquid cooling systems and mechanical systems (HVAC, plumbing).
• Proficient in interpreting P&IDs, drawings, commissioning scripts, and Change Management plans.

Responsibilities

• Lead the commissioning of mechanical systems including HVAC, chilled water, and liquid cooling infrastructure.
• Verify mechanical installations against design specifications, performance benchmarks, and regulatory standards.
• Coordinate with subcontractors to ensure accurate installation, testing, and documentation of mechanical systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve mechanical issues during startup, testing, and commissioning phases.
• Develop and implement Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures for safe energization and operation.
• Conduct walk-through inspections to confirm compliance with project specifications, safety protocols, and industry regulations.
• Inspect materials, manufactured components, and installation practices for adherence to contract and code requirements.
• Document inspection results, recommend corrective actions, and ensure timely resolution of non-compliant issues.
• Provide QA/QC feedback throughout all phases and support risk mitigation strategies.
• Train and oversee subcontractor teams to ensure consistent compliance with policies and procedures.
• Ensure all mechanical systems meet contractual obligations, regulatory codes, and safety benchmarks.
• Collaborate with field teams, design engineers, and clients for integrated approaches.
• Support the development and verification of energy efficiency strategies for mechanical systems.
