Job summary

FST Technical Services is seeking a lead commissioning engineer to drive the full lifecycle of data center builds, from design through execution, ensuring performance and reliability.

You will evaluate HVAC and automation systems, lead functional and witness testing, and manage time and expenses while mentoring junior engineers in a field environment.

Qualifications

• Degree in HVACR, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience in commissioning engineering.
• 3+ years of data center experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities across the full lifecycle of a data center build to include L1-L5.
• Execute functional testing, witness testing, and system validation.
• Manage assignments within schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
• Evaluate HVAC, chillers, boilers, pumps, and automation systems.
• Troubleshoot system performance issues.
• Review design documentation.
• Lead meetings and communicate findings.
• Build relationships with clients and contractors.
• Complete reports and manage time and expenses.
• Mentor junior engineers and support training.

What You Bring

Core Qualifications

• Degree in HVACR, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field
• 5+years experience in commissioning engineering
• 3+ years of Data center experience required

Technical Capabilities

• Experience with HVAC, controls, automation, fire safety systems
• Ability to read construction documents

Professional Skills

• Strong communication and problem-solving skills

Physical Requirements

• Ability to work in field environments and lift 30 lbs

Preferred

• EIT, CEM, OSHA 30, BIM experience, Facility Grid

Travel Requirements

Travel to project sites as needed based on project demands.

Base Salary: $130,000 to $150,000 depending on experience, comprehensive benefits, monthly per diem and mobilization support
