Job summary

FST Technical Services in Detroit, MI is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer to lead commissioning activities for large-scale data centers, from design through execution. You will evaluate HVAC, chillers, pumps, and automation systems to ensure performance meets the highest standards and project goals.

In this role you will mentor junior engineers, lead client meetings, manage assignments within schedule and budget, produce reports, and maintain time and expenses.

Qualifications

• Degree in HVACR, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience in commissioning engineering.
• 3+ years of Data center experience required.
• Experience with HVAC, controls, automation, fire safety systems.
• Ability to read construction documents.

Responsibilities

• Lead commissioning activities across the full lifecycle of a data center build to include L1-L5.
• Execute functional testing, witness testing, and system validation.
• Manage assignments within schedule, budget, and quality expectations.
• Lead meetings and communicate findings; build relationships with clients and contractors.
• Complete reports and manage time and expenses.
• Mentor junior engineers and support training.

We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Engineer who brings deep technical expertise, field leadership, and the ability to drive outcomes in high-performance environments.

What You will Do

Base Salary: $130,000 to $150,000 depending on experience, comprehensive benefits, monthly per diem and mobilization support
