Job summary

WSP Global Inc. in Houston, TX is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Mechanical Engineer to lead planning and design of high‑performance mechanical systems for Science & Technology facilities, including laboratories, life sciences, and pharmaceutical spaces.

The role focuses on technical leadership, client liaison, and project delivery from concept through closeout, with opportunities to grow WSP’s presence in Texas while mentoring teams and coordinating multi‑disciplinary design.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Architectural Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
• PE license required, with ability to obtain Texas licensure if not currently held.
• 10+ years of relevant post‑education experience in mechanical engineering and building systems design.
• Proficiency with Revit, AutoCAD, HVAC load‑calculation software, and related mechanical engineering tools.

Responsibilities

• Provide senior-level technical leadership for planning, design, and construction administration of mechanical systems for complex Science & Technology projects.
• Lead the design of HVAC, hydronic, central utility, process exhaust, laboratory ventilation, and other mechanical systems.
• Develop design strategies, basis-of-design narratives, and operating sequences aligned with client requirements.
• Serve as Engineer of Record, discipline lead, or senior reviewer on applicable projects.
• Apply advanced mechanical engineering principles through concept to operation, including modeling and energy analyses.
• Coordinate with architectural, electrical, plumbing, structural, and other disciplines to ensure integrated designs.
