Job summary

WSP is seeking an Assistant Vice President, Plumbing Engineer in Houston, TX to lead plumbing design for complex projects within the Property & Buildings sector. The role emphasizes leadership, client engagement, and technical influence across multidisciplinary teams.

The candidate should bring 10+ years of building systems plumbing experience, strong code knowledge, and proficiency with Revit/AutoCAD. PE license is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Plumbing Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years in plumbing for building systems engineering.
• PE license desired but not required (multi-state preferred).
• Strong knowledge of plumbing system design (water, sanitary, stormwater, lab gases).
• Experience leading projects and cross-functional teams.
• Ability to manage client relationships and support business development.
• Familiarity with codes, regs and industry standards.
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, BIM platforms.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership for plumbing systems design and delivery across projects.
• Lead multi-disciplinary teams in planning, design and coordination of plumbing, fire protection, and fluid systems.
• Review design documents, specs, and deliverables for code compliance.
• Manage scope, schedule, budgets, and deliverables for high quality execution.
• Support business development including client relationships and proposals.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers to foster learning.
• Collaborate with architects and stakeholders for integrated design across sectors.
