Job summary

The City of Claremont is seeking candidates for Mechanic and Senior Mechanic within the Motor Fleet team in the Community Services Department. The positions support preventive maintenance and repair of light and heavy vehicles and equipment, with the Senior role offering advanced diagnostics, guidance, and training.

The work is full-time, 38 hours per week, with a Monday–Friday schedule and potential after-hours as needed.

Qualifications

• 3 years of semi-skilled experience in automotive repair work.
• Experience in preventive maintenance, inspections, tune-ups, and repairs.
• Desirable ASE certifications and licenses as described in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive maintenance, inspections, tune-ups, and minor and major repairs on light and heavy vehicles and equipment.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, braking, steering, suspension, and related systems and perform repairs.
• Maintain accurate maintenance and repair records and keep shop orderly and safe.
