Job summary

Herc Rentals is seeking a Mechanic B to perform preventative maintenance and intermediate diagnostics on a large fleet at our Carson, CA location. You will service engines, cooling, electrical and hydraulic systems, using diagnostic tools and OEM guidelines while mentoring junior technicians.

The role requires proficiency with schematics, tool proficiency, strong communication, and the ability to work outdoors in varied conditions. Competitive pay and comprehensive benefits are provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ownership of a sufficient selection of hand and air/electric tools to complete most repairs and services.
• Ability to drive and operate multiple types of vehicles and equipment.
• Demonstrated proficiency in all Mechanic C-level tasks.
• Working knowledge of electrical and hydraulic systems; ability to read schematics.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on all Herc-owned fleet, following OEM guidelines and branch procedures.
• Diagnose and repair cooling, electrical, and hydraulic systems using computerized tools.
• Inspect engines, belts, hoses, and major components for wear and accuracy.
• Document service reports and repair logs; assist in training Mechanic C technicians.
• Maintain a clean, safe work area and adhere to company procedures and protocols.
