Maricopa County Department of Transportation is seeking a Materials Testing Technician Senior to lead laboratory testing of soils, aggregates, asphalt, and concrete for transportation projects. The role supports field operations, oversees daily lab activities, and assists in training lab technicians to ensure high-quality, efficient testing.

Qualifications

• Two years of progressively responsible experience in construction materials testing or related engineering technician duties.
• Associate’s degree or two years of college coursework in Construction Technology, Engineering, or Materials Science.
• Must possess ATTI Soil and Aggregate, ATTI Asphalt, and ACI Strength certifications.

Responsibilities

• Perform laboratory testing of construction materials used on assigned projects.
• Conduct field sampling and testing to verify material adequacy.
• Coordinate daily lab activities and assist in staff training and mentoring.
• Prepare, review, and submit testing reports and summaries for accuracy and compliance.
• Maintain, calibrate, and verify laboratory testing equipment.
• Support on-site certification inspections conducted by national certifying agencies.
