Job summary

Amcor in Columbus, OH is seeking a senior materials science leader to build and run a pipeline of R&D activities focused on new resins, barriers, additives and increasing PCR usage for more sustainable packaging.

You will collaborate with internal and external partners to advance next‑generation materials solutions, manage budgets and timelines, and provide technical guidance across engineering, manufacturing and QA.

Qualifications

• Education: Master's Degree or PhD in materials related discipline preferred
• 8-10+ years of relevant experience in materials science or engineering
• Program leadership experience in a corporate setting
• Proficient in material science and impact on polymer processing
• Experience with PET, PP, HDPE and related materials
• Experience with plastics conversion technologies ( extrusion, injection, blow molding, ISBM )
• Ability to work in a complex R&D environment
• Travel up to 10%

Responsibilities

• Lead research and decision-making on new resin solutions and alternatives
• Drive innovation and technology scouting in sustainability, materials area
• Lead PCR usage initiatives to increase PCR in products
• Maintain timelines and budgets for material development programs
• Provide technical guidance to engineering, manufacturing, and other stakeholders
• Support business cases with performance specs and costing
• Oversee resin trials and material qualification
• Establish and enforce work standards and safety requirements
