Job summary

Form Energy is seeking a scientist to advance gas diffusion electrodes for iron-air technology. Reporting to the Discharge Cell R&D manager, you will fabricate and characterize GDEs, translating materials insights into cell performance in partnership with chemists, materials scientists and battery engineers.

Qualifications

• BS or higher in Materials Science, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or related field.
• Experience developing and characterizing porous, coated, or multiphase materials used in gas diffusion electrodes or related systems.
• Familiarity with SEM, porosimetry, pycnometry, contact angle.
• Hands-on electrode/coating fabrication processes (extrusion, spray/wet coating).
• Experience collecting and interpreting electrochemical data (EIS, polarization).
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Develop and iterate gas diffusion electrode formulations to translate target properties into manufacturable electrodes.
• Characterize electrodes to identify failure modes and performance drivers.
• Identify improvements and drive design iterations.
• Coordinate build-and-test campaigns and maintain test throughput across the team.
• Collaborate with design and product teams to align development with cell requirements.
