Job summary

Form Energy is hiring a Senior Staff Materials Engineer to advance slurry formulations and electrode materials for iron-air technology. You will work with chemists, materials scientists and battery engineers to drive process-property insights and scale up next-generation electrolytes.

You will lead development of aqueous slurries, characterize particle interactions, and establish relationships that drive battery performance while collaborating across the Advanced Technology Team.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with 12+ years of work experience or higher degrees with corresponding years.
  • Deep knowledge of particle and materials science, including colloidal/interfacial interactions.
  • Experience with electrochemical systems or devices (battery-specific experience not required).
  • Proven ability to develop slurries, dispersions, or particle-laden formulations for demanding applications.
  • Proficiency with electrochemical and materials characterization techniques to link process to performance.
  • Curiosity and pragmatic problem solving when tackling formulation challenges with no playbook.
  • Experience leading technical directions and mentoring senior staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define the approach, strategy, and criteria for new formulation problems with no established method.
  • Design, formulate, and optimize aqueous slurries with active materials and conductive carbon additives.
  • Diagnose dispersion formulation and stability challenges in active phases and solvents.
  • Build and operate a slurry and materials characterization toolkit.
  • Translate data into predictive models of particle behavior and performance.
  • Represent the function in cross-functional reviews and mentor team members.
