Description

To oversee purchasing, planning, and inventory management to ensure a seamless supply of materials for manufacturing high-end indoor and outdoor cooking appliances. This role focuses on procurement execution, supplier performance management, inventory optimization, and daily collaboration with manufacturing. While Strategic Sourcing manages contracts, pricing, and new product introductions, the Materials Manager will drive operational efficiency and supplier engagement to support production and cost-saving initiatives. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential for cross-functional collaboration and team development.

  • Execute purchase orders in alignment with production schedules and demand forecasts.
  • Maintain strong relationships with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and adherence to quality standards.
  • Monitor supplier performance and drive corrective actions for delivery or quality issues.
  • Collaborate with Strategic Sourcing to support supplier transitions and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Develop and maintain efficient material planning processes to support production without excess inventory.
  • Optimize inventory turns and working capital by managing stock levels, safety stock, and lead times.
  • Utilize MRP/ERP systems to maintain accurate demand signals and procurement activities.
  • Identify and resolve material shortages or delays to minimize production disruptions.
  • Partner daily with manufacturing teams to ensure material availability and resolve supply-related issues.
  • Support production efficiency by proactively managing materials flow and reducing bottlenecks.
  • Work closely with quality teams to address material non-conformance and drive supplier corrective actions.
  • Identify opportunities for efficiency improvements in purchasing, planning, and inventory control.
  • Implement best practices to improve supplier performance, reduce waste, and enhance supply chain reliability.
  • Leverage data analytics to drive continuous improvement in procurement and material management processes.
  • Lead a team of buyers and planners, providing guidance, training, and performance management.
  • Foster collaboration between procurement, operations, and strategic sourcing teams.
  • Communicate effectively across all levels of the organization to align supply chain goals with business objectives.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, business or related field
  • 5+ years’ experience in materials mgmt, purchasing, or supply chain roles within a manufacturing environment
  • Strong knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and inventory management best practices
  • Excellent problem solving, analytical and decision-making skills
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to influence and drive results
