Job Description

General Responsibilities:

Manage all aspects of a facilities, materials, environmental, or geotechnical engineering project to ensure it is safely completed on time, within scope, and within budget. Responsible for completing the project according to its contracted scope; monitor progress and performance against the project plan. Troubleshoot operational problems, recommend or resolve issues, and minimize delays. May oversee resource management, project scheduling, budgets, forecasts, and coordinate with external vendors, subcontractors, or contractors. Conduct meetings and prepare reports to communicate project status to the team and clients. Set priorities, assign tasks, and coordinate project staff to meet targets and milestones. Communicate with clients to ensure satisfaction. Coordinate efforts with APR to ensure engagement throughout the project, especially at critical points. Approve invoices, prepare change orders, and handle collections.

Essential Roles and Responsibilities:

  1. Manage all aspects of large-scale and complex projects.
  2. Work with clients or NAM to define project scope, schedule, and budget.
  3. Lead interactions with clients and stakeholders to consider their goals during project execution.
  4. Design, communicate, and implement project plans.
  5. Lead safety efforts, including preparation and compliance with safety plans.
  6. Resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
  7. Identify, develop, and gather resources required for project completion.
  8. Prepare designs and work specifications; develop schedules, budgets, and forecasts; select materials, equipment, staff, and contractors.
  9. Estimate costs, resources, and time needed.
  10. Forecast expenditures and manage scope and schedule to meet budgets.
  11. Monitor activities, allocate resources, and assign tasks to meet targets.
  12. Partner with other departments for specialized resources.
  13. Conduct project meetings and prepare reports.
  14. Coach and mentor project staff.
  15. Coordinate with APR for oversight and quality reviews.
  16. Coordinate with accounting for financial management, invoicing, and collections.
  17. Understand project-related risks and company policies.
  18. Lead safety efforts and promote quality standards.
  19. Ensure consistent quality in project and proposal delivery, engaging APRs early.
  20. Begin documented mentoring and application for Terracon Authorized Project Reviewer certification.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Geology, or related field, with a minimum of 10 years' related experience, or 14 years' experience without a degree.
  • Valid driver's license with acceptable violation history.

Preferred Certifications:

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Professional Engineer (PE), Professional Geologist (PG), or similar relevant registration/certification.
  • Authorized Project Reviewer status preferred.
