Job summary

The Material Lead at Kiewit Supply Network in Houston is responsible for overseeing all project materials management activities to ensure timely procurement, delivery, tracking, storage, and distribution of materials required for successful project execution.

This role partners with Procurement, Construction, Engineering, Suppliers, Expediting, Logistics, and Project Management teams to ensure material availability aligns with project schedules, budgets, and operational requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, construction management, engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of experience in materials management, supply chain, procurement, logistics, or project controls.
• Experience on large-scale EPC, industrial, energy, infrastructure, or construction projects.
• Knowledge of material lifecycle management, inventory control, and supplier coordination processes.
• Proficiency with ERP and materials management systems such as SAP or Oracle.

Responsibilities

• Lead project materials management from kickoff through closeout.
• Develop and maintain material management plans, workflows, and reporting.
• Collaborate with Procurement, Engineering and Construction to identify material requirements.
• Monitor material status from requisition through delivery and installation.
• Coordinate with suppliers, expeditors, logistics providers and site personnel.
• Track shortages, delays, and risk items and drive mitigation.
• Manage receiving, storage, inventory control, and issuing of materials.
• Oversee material management systems and tracking tools.
• Maintain records of commitments, receipts, inventory levels, transfers, and surplus.
• Analyze status reports and communicate updates to leadership.
• Support forecasting to optimize inventory and minimize excess.
• Resolve discrepancies and delivery issues.
• Ensure compliance with policies, safety and quality.
• Coordinate closeout activities and final inventory reconciliation.
• Develop strong working relationships with stakeholders, suppliers, and project teams.
