Job summary

System One is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer for a long-term contract, remote-offsite. The role focuses on material selection, analysis of metallography and NDE data, and developing technical specs for reactor materials and qualification.

Candidates should have 10+ years in materials engineering, preferably with a nuclear environment, and familiarity with high-temperature phenomena, vendor specs, and BPVC standards. Strong communication is essential.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related technical discipline required.
  • 10+ years of related experience or advanced degree with related experience.
  • Experience with ASME BPVC preferred.
  • Nuclear reactor materials development, testing and characterization desirable.
  • Experience in regulated applications and material processing specs.

Responsibilities

  • Interface with project teams for material selection and reactor program requirements.
  • Analyze reports and test data (metallography, NDE, mechanical properties) and generate specs.
  • Oversee test programs to understand high-temperature mechanical phenomena in reactor materials.
  • Support procurement and supplier development to advance component readiness.
