Job summary

Protingent Staffing is seeking a Senior Materials Engineer for a contract role. You will interface with project teams on material selection for reactor development programs and analyze reports to document new knowledge related to design and qualification.

Responsibilities include overseeing test programs for sodium cooled reactor materials, supporting procurement, and guiding suppliers to advance TRL of key components. Requires 10+ years experience and BPVC familiarity.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years of related experience with a B.S. degree; or an advanced degree with related experience, or equivalent experience.
  • A degree in Materials Science/Engineering or a related technical discipline is desired.
  • Experience with ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC) is preferred.
  • Prior experience in materials development, testing, and characterization for a nuclear reactor environment is desirable.
  • Experience qualifying materials for service in highly regulated applications is preferred.
  • Experience developing material processing specifications, evaluating material selections and reviewing vendor material definitions.
  • An understanding of complex mechanical phenomena (e.g., creep, fatigue, creep fatigue, stress corrosion cracking, and fracture) in high temperature systems.
  • Strong communication skills desired.
  • The successful candidate will possess a high degree of trust and integrity, communicate openly and display respect, and a desire to foster teamwork.
  • Actual position starting level and title will be determined based on assessment of qualifications.

Job Details

Job Type: Contract

Pay Rate Range: $55-$91/hr (Pay rates are approved based on candidate location, education and experience)

Location: 100% Remote

Acceptable Export control regulations require candidates to be a U.S. Citizen, U.S. Legal Permanent Resident, or of a protected person status.
