Job summary

System One seeks a highly motivated Materials Engineer to support the Plant Materials and Welding team on a contract basis. The role focuses on materials, processes, supply chain development, and supplier qualification for next generation sodium-cooled fast reactor components.

Responsibilities include material selection, data analysis, and developing manufacturing processes with external suppliers. Candidates should have at least 3 years of related experience and a background in materials

Qualifications

• Degree in Materials Science/Engineering or related field is preferred.
• Experience with nuclear materials development or testing is desirable.
• Familiarity with BPVC is a plus.
• Ability to define material processing specs and vendor reviews.

Responsibilities

• Interface with project teams to define material requirements for reactor programs.
• Analyze test data and generate technical specifications for reactor design and qualification.
• Oversee tests to understand creep, fatigue, and fracture in high-temp materials.
• Support procurement and supplier development to advance TRL of components.
