Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL is seeking a Materials Engineer to join the Applied Research optical-materials lab. You will oversee design, micro- and nano-fabrication, and characterization of photonic components such as meta-optics and photonic integrated circuits.

This senior role emphasizes proficiency in full-wave simulation (Python/Julia, LabVIEW, MATLAB, C/C++, Zemax, Lumerical, COMSOL) and lithography/laser writing for nano/microfabrication, with exposure to the full product lifecycle and

Qualifications

PhD in optics, physics, materials science or related field.
Experience with photonic devices and micro/nano fabrication is preferred.
Experience in full-wave simulations and optical-material characterization.

Responsibilities

Oversee design, fabrication, and characterization of photonic components including meta‑optics and PICs.
Perform full-wave simulations using Python/Julia, LabVIEW, MATLAB, and other tools.
Lead material‑characterization activities across optical, structural, and mechanical domains.
Contribute to prototype fabrication and performance validation across product lifecycle.
