Job summary

Applied Materials, Inc. is seeking a Photonics/Optics Technician to support development, characterization, and manufacturing of advanced optical devices, modules, and systems.

You will work hands-on with lasers, fibers, PICs, and metrology equipment while collaborating with scientists and engineers on telecom, data center, and sensing applications. The role requires an associate degree or certificate in photonics/optics and 2+ years of hands-on lab experience.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or technical certificate in Photonics, Optics, or a related field.
• 2+ years of hands-on lab, manufacturing, or testing experience in optics or photonics.
• Experience with optical alignment and fiber handling.
• Ability to read engineering drawings, schematics, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Optical Assembly and Integration of photonic devices and modules.
• Perform precision fiber alignment and optical coupling.
• Install, configure, and maintain lasers, detectors, cameras, and spectrometers.
• Support wafer- and die-level optical device evaluation.
• Conduct optical/electro-optical characterization experiments per test plans.
• Document data, generate test reports, and communicate results to engineers.
• Calibrate and maintain lab equipment and ensure safety procedures.
